On Tuesday night, Luka Doncic had one of the greatest games in NBA history, compiling numbers that, even as I sit here and type them, are hard to comprehend: The Mavericks beat the Knicks in a crazy overtime game, 126-121, with 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists.
This is just the second 60-point triple-double of any kind, joining James Harden’s 60-11-10 performance from a 2018 game as the first 60-point, 20-rebound triple-double in NBA history. That’s tops.

The Knicks dropped their fourth straight game after an eight-game winning streak, their longest in almost a year, led by a career-high 33 points from Quentin Grimes and 29 points and 18 rebounds from Dallas native Julius Randle.
The Kings were also without their standout Centre Domantas Sabonis, who is dealing with an ulnar collateral ligament avulsion fracture in his right thumb. It was quite amazing how simple Luka made this seem. A Mavericks victory shouldn’t have been conceivable in any manner. With 33 seconds left, they were nine points down. Luka intentionally missed a free shot with 4.2 seconds left and Dallas down by two points. He then went on to win the tip-drill rebound and score to tie the game.
Dallas had the lead in regulation for less than a minute but never fell behind in overtime. Midway through the extra period, Doncic made two free throws to give the Mavs a 118-116 lead that they would not lose.
In his first trip to Dallas, where the point guard played his first four seasons before signing with the Knicks in free agency last summer, Brunson missed his first game of the season. Early in December in New York, the Mavericks defeated the Villanova Wildcats 121-100. The Mavericks are a two-time NCAA champion.
